BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, November 10, 2008 – Drummondville Voltigeurs forward Yannick Riendeau and Shawinigan Cataractes netminder Timo Pielmeier today were named the TELUS offensive and defensive players of the week for the period extending from November 3 to 9.

In two games, Riendeau recorded five goals and two assists while posting a +4 rating. The Drummondville offence was on full display during a double-header versus the Lewiston MAINEiacs this week-end. The Voltigeurs defeated the MAINEiacs 13-4 and 7-1 to tie the franchise record for most goals in one game on the road with thirteen. Head coach Guy Boucher’s troops have won seven of their last ten contests and sit in second place in the TELUS Central division standings.

Chris Doyle (Rocket), Tomas Knotek (Mooseheads) and Guillaume Goulet (Drakkar) were also considered.

Timo Pielmeier gets the nod at the defensive end. The Cataractes’ goaltender was stellar in two road wins versus the Montreal Juniors and the Quebec Remparts, posting a 1.00 goals-against-average and .960 save percentage. The German native, a third round draft pick in 2007 (San Jose), is second in the QMJHL in goals-against-average at 2.09 and tied for second in wins with 12. Shawinigan has won twelve straight, one short of the franchise record.

Jake Allen (Juniors), Jordon Southorn (Rocket) and Marc-André Bourdon (Huskies) were also strong candidates.
