Nestrasil and Bourdon named TELUS players of the week

(Image: Andrej Nestrasil and Marc-André Bourdon are the TELUS players of the week in the QMJHL) BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, December 1, 2008 – Victoriaville Tigres forward Andrej Nestrasil and Rouyn-Noranda Huskies defenseman Marc-André Bourdon today were named the TELUS offensive and defensive players of the week for the period extending from November 24 to 30.
Nestrasil collected three goals as well as a shootout winner and added five assists in three games. Moreover, he posted a +4 rating. The left-winger helped the Tigres remain undefeated this week thanks to wins over the Foreurs, the Olympiques and the MAINEiacs. He arguably played his best game versus Val-d’Or, registering three points and the game-winner in the shootout in a 5-4 victory. Nestrasil was named the game’s first star.
Dany Massé (Voltigeurs), Maxime Gratchev (MAINEiacs) and Michael Kirkpatrick (Sea Dogs) were also considered.
Marc-André Bourdon gets the nod on defence. In two Huskies wins, the defenseman collected seven assists while posting a +6 rating. Furthermore, he distributed five bodychecks. Bourdon played his best game on Saturday, recording four assists, including one on the game-winning goal in overtime, in a 4-3 win over the Montreal Juniors. Rouyn-Noranda sits in first place in the TELUS Western division standings with 38 points.
Benoit Gervais (Huskies), Nicola Riopel (Wildcats) and Éric Gélinas (MAINEiacs) were also strong candidates.
