VAL-D’OR, Tuesday, April 28, 2009 – The General Manager of the Val-d’Or Foreurs, Mario Carrière, today announced at a press conference held at the air Creebec Centre, that Marc-André Dumont is the team’s new head coach.

"We met several candidates, who each had different backgrounds and coaching styles. The selection of Marc-André was made because we feel that his profile fits best with the type of team that we have," commented Carrière.

Dumont coached the Châteauguay Patriots in the Quebec Midget AAA League last season. Moreover, he was the head coach of Team Quebec at the Under-17 World Junior Championship.

He served as an assistant coach on Benoît Groulx’s staff with the Gatineau Olympiques during the 2006-07 campaign. It is his first head coaching job at the major junior level.

"I am very pleased and excited to come to Val-d’Or, a great community that embraces the Foreurs wholeheartedly. This challenge is a great opportunity for me. I will meet with the players in the next few days and analyze the current situation," said Carrière.
